Blueberries
Czech jewelry designer, Marketa Richterova, along with life partner Zbynek Krulich (interior/product designer)have collaborated to create a line of jewelry using 3D printing; entitled Blueberries. The organic shapes stem from Richterova's background in handmade carbon fiber and plastic work, while Krulich brings in the innovation with his interest in new technology and product development. Their work is light yet complex, visually stimulating and reminiscent of a Frank Gehry masterpiece. All scaled down to a wearable ring, bracelet or necklace. The Czech jewelry scene is something to keep an eye on...

I stumbled upon (not the site, I actually just happened to stumble all on my own) this women, Anne Heike's blog while looking for a job through LinkedIn. I'm really not quite sure who she is, except that she has a great blog, sense of humor and she is the Creative Manager at Target. I can't help but smile at her cynical, witty humor throughout each post. It is a breath of fresh air and I love it. I hope you do too.

Trend Report: Speakeasy
Due to the abnormally cold rainy weather, it's time to find a little inspiration and happiness from the clouds. As Gil always says,
"Paris is the most beautiful in the rain".
Trend watch: The Great Gatsby hit theaters this May, revitalizing the 20's. Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris also speaks to the era of Hemmingway, Fitzgerald, Picasso, Dali and Stein. Find the copy cat in you and "knock off" the 20's. Find some knee length shift dresses (with fringe?), go to a vintage store and grab some costume jewelry: big jewel tone earrings, and layers of long necklaces. Maybe find yourself a pair of wedges and a flamboyantly decorated hat. Now you are ready to dance in the rain.

Monday's Inspiration
"Things falling apart is a kind of testing and also a kind of healing. We think that the point is to pass the test or to overcome the problem, but the truth is that things don't really get solved. They come together and they fall apart. Then they come together and fall apart again. It's just like that. The healing comes from letting there be room for all of this to happen; room for grief, for relief, for misery, for joy. When we think something is going to bring us pleasure, we don't know. Letting there be room for not knowing is the most important thing of all. We try to do what we think is going to help. But we don't know. We never know if we're going to fall flat or sit up tall. When there's a big disappointment, we don't know if that's the end of the story. It may just be the beginning of a great adventure." -Pema Chodron
This week's music: check out the new indie band, Polica, a Minneapolis based band. They have been criticized and commended for their interesting use of auto-tune, and electro pop feel. Polica just released a new single, Tiff, with Justin Vernon, the creator and lead singer of Bon Iver. Have a look at the music video for Wandering Star, it is my personal favorite.
