Icelandic Design.

Completely obsessed with Ziska by Harpa Einarsdottir.
Iceland is a hideaway for artists of all kinds. With a population of a little over 300,000 the country shares an intimate love for art, heritage, and design. Not to mention the music scene is astonishing: birthing such artists as Jonsi, Sigur Ros, and Bjork. With only three years under its belt, the Fashion Festival is something to keep an eye on... maybe after college graduation I will get to see it myself.

Junior Show Photos Are In!

Pictures from the shoot the day of the fashion show are in. My sister, Anna easily looked the best in the black dress.
Here is a little blurb about the collection.

"Home is the inspiration for this line: late night picnics, fields of flowers, light summer dresses, dew drops on the leaves in the morning, and Mingle, the playful little goat. Memories from summers past are reflected in the light, delicate, and playful pieces that make up my Spring Summer 2013 Line."

Studded.

Need: studs, pliers, leather hole puncher

make sure to mark where you want to hole punch before jumping into it...

use the screw in ones...

Last night for thirsty Thursday, I studded my shirt and cut my hair so I now have bangs. Party on. Check out this new band Stefan showed me last week. So cool- and of course they are from the UK... sort of remind me of SBTRKT. Good luck beating the heat today, I'll be hiding in my favorite bookstore.

It Girl of the Week.

Lana del Rey is at it again with her controversial video for single, National Anthem. Though it was released only yesterday, it has created quite a stir, plus A$AP Rocky is Mr. President... couldn't get any better!! Read the link below where the director discusses the real meaning behind the video.

Either way, Lana prancing around in her 60's inspired attire, big hair, tattoos, and killer nails (literally) is worth the watch. She is definitely a fashion icon to keep an eye on.

Make Something.

Inspiration for something I can make when I'm home.

Because I am disabled without a sewing machine for the next month while I finish my internship, I am saving this project for August when I am back in Madison with big open spaces and the tools to be creative.

Sunday.

Happy Sunday! Woke up early this morning and read magazines in bed. Currently in the midst of reading Hot & Cool, a great new(ish) publication based out of London as well as Intermission Magazine. Both magazines have that artistic, avant-garde undercurrent which is something I always look for as an indicator of a serious fashion publication. To do today: clean up from being on the road for the past two weekends... Wisconsin Dells escapade, then Mom & Dad's visit here, run to an art store to grab some odds and ends, and maybe explore a new yoga studio a few blocks away.
Side note: check out these great street style shots. I love this more than following the shows. Street Style and always keep your eye's on StyleSight's blog for a plethora of inspiration, news and ideas.

Friday Haze

It is still supposed to hit a sweltering high of 91 degrees today in New York City. My parents have been in town for the past few days, so we have been busy seeing family friends, scouting out great coffee shops, and hiding in the shade. Yesterday I stumbled upon an AMAZING pair of python snakeskin boots at All Saint's... well, I have had my eye on them for about a month but yesterday began their summer sale so I couldn't resist. Also took a look at Opening Ceremony yesterday for a gift to bring to a dinner party (our hosts included to cute as a button four year old twins). My parents and I decided on little rechargeable "cow" and "penguin" French flashlights. Today we are walking the High Line, and going to a great Mexican Restaurant on the corner of Broome and Orchard. I love that little stretch of storefronts on that block, definitely something to check out if you have not.
